The HERTEL 1000568 is a VBMT332LF HC210 solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with titanium nitride (TiN) via a PVD process, this neutral-hand insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The HC210 carbide grade with a positive rake geometry and screw-on holding method makes it well suited for finishing and light-to-moderate material removal where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. Insert thickness is 3/16 inch and overall length is 16.61 mm (0.6539 inch).
This insert is intended for use in screw-on style VBMT toolholders and is rated for primary workpiece materials classified as M (stainless steel and austenitic alloys), N (non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper alloys), and S (heat-resistant superalloys). Secondary workpiece material classification is K (cast iron). It is appropriate for general turning applications in production and job-shop environments. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch), making it best suited for finishing passes and light profiling work. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators in metal-cutting environments.
Designed for use in screw-on style VBMT toolholders accepting a 332 size insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Compatible with workpiece material grades C2 and C4 per standard carbide grade classifications. Refer to toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm pocket geometry and screw interface compatibility before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamping key to seat the screw to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedure — do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as foreign material will prevent proper seating and can cause insert fracture during the cut. Dispose of worn inserts according to local regulations for carbide tooling waste.
