The HERTEL 1000435 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG432M2 geometry, manufactured to the HT10 grade and supplied uncoated with a neutral hand orientation. Designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 0.031-inch corner radius and a 0.5-inch inscribed circle diameter. The DNMG style uses a clamp-and-pin holding method, providing rigid seating in compatible toolholders. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.049 inches (1.25 mm), it is suited for light to medium finishing passes. Machinists and tooling specialists typically install and index this insert during planned tool changes on production turning equipment.
This insert is rated for use on primary workpiece material groups N (non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper alloys) and S (heat-resistant superalloys and titanium). Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes groups K (cast iron) and M (stainless steel). The G chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation in these material families. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning on aerospace components, general-purpose machining shops, and high-production turning cells where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard DNMG432 toolholder pockets accepting inserts with a 0.203-inch hole diameter, 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and clamp-and-pin holding. Compatible with workpiece material groups N, S, K, and M per ISO classification.
Installation and indexing of carbide turning inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the toolholder; never overtighten the clamping screw or pin assembly, as this can chip the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating a new insert. Always verify insert orientation and projection before resuming cutting operations.
