Product Description

The HERTEL 1000397 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the SPMR422 style with a 90-degree square shape, this insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN in the HC335 manufacturer grade. The 0.5 inch inscribed circle and 0.0312 inch (1/32 inch) corner radius suit a wide range of finish and semi-finish turning cuts. The insert uses a clamp-style holding method and is rated for a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inch (1.25 mm). It is installed and changed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.

This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P (steel) and M (stainless steel), and carries material grades C5 and C6. The KENDEX series geometry with a positive rake angle and R-style chip breaker supports controlled chip evacuation during turning. Installation Notes
