The HERTEL 1000395 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SPG422 style, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries an HC335 grade designation and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN applied over a solid carbide substrate. The insert has a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch (0.0310 inch) corner radius, and a square shape with a 90-degree included angle. It holds a neutral hand orientation, making it compatible with right-hand or left-hand toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert for precision turning applications where coating durability and edge retention are required.
This insert is suited for turning ferrous metals classified under ISO material group P (carbon and alloy steels) and group M (stainless steels), covering a broad range of general-purpose turning, facing, and light profiling work. It fits the KENDEX series toolholder system and is held in place via a clamp-style holding method. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces and heat generation, which is advantageous when machining tougher alloys or when minimizing deflection on slender workpieces. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch), making it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use with KENDEX series clamp-style toolholders accepting SPG-style inserts with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, 1/8 inch thickness, and clearance code P. Primary workpiece material compatibility is ISO group P (steels) and group M (stainless steels). Material grades C5 and C6 apply.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down or place the machine in an e-stop state before changing inserts, and use proper insert-handling tools to avoid contact with cutting edges. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamp are free of chips and debris before seating the insert. Verify clamp torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before resuming cutting operations.
