The HERTEL 1000334 is a solid carbide turning insert in SCMT style, grade HC210, with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating applied via PVD process. It features a 90-degree square insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake geometry. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches), the corner radius is 1/32 inches (0.0312 inches), and the insert thickness is 5/32 inches (0.1563 inches). Held in place by a screw-on clamping method, this insert is suited for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys are the primary users.
This insert is designed for external and internal turning applications where controlled chip formation and wear resistance are priorities. The HC210 grade with TiN coating performs across a range of workpiece materials including stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. The T chip breaker geometry aids in chip control during light to medium depth-of-cut operations. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), making it well suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. The screw-on holding method ensures repeatable indexing in compatible SCMT toolholders.
Designed for use in screw-on SCMT-style toolholders. Compatible with workpiece material codes M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous), S (high-temperature alloys and superalloys), and secondary code K (cast iron). Material grades C2 and C4 are applicable. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against the SCMT insert size code 32.52.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver for the screw-on clamping system to avoid seat damage or insert cracking — refer to the toolholder manufacturer specification for fastener torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
