The HERTEL 1000331 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to CCMT432LF geometry with a diamond 80-degree included angle, this insert features a TiN coating applied via PVD process over a solid carbide substrate in HERTEL grade HC210. The neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of toolholding setups. Key dimensional specs include a 1/2 inch (0.5000 inch) inscribed circle, a 3/16 inch insert thickness, a 1/32 inch (0.0312 inch) corner radius, and an insert length of 12.9 mm (0.5079 inches). The screw-lock holding method provides secure seating in compatible ModBORE toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning operations on stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and cast materials, corresponding to ISO workpiece material groups M, N, S, and K. The T-style chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle support chip control across a range of feed and depth-of-cut combinations typical in finish and semi-finish turning. The ModBORE series designation aligns this insert with internal and external turning applications where consistent edge life and dimensional accuracy are required. Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure when tightening the clamping screw; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating the new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping cutting edges prior to use.
