The HERTEL 1000219 is a solid carbide turning insert with TCMT geometry and manufacturer grade HC210, designed for use in CNC and manual turning operations on metal lathes. The insert carries a TiN (titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance at the cutting edge. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The screw-on holding method secures the insert in a compatible TCMT-style toolholder. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning applications involving workpiece materials classified as M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous metals and plastics), and S (superalloys and titanium), with secondary suitability for K-group materials (cast iron). It is appropriate for light to moderate depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Typical applications include external turning, facing, and light profiling on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Compatible workpiece material groups include M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous), S (superalloys), and K (cast iron) per ISO classification.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a powered-down and locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout requirements. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination can cause improper seating and edge chipping. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
