The HERTEL 1000203 is a left-hand MWLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It features a 1 inch by 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 5 inches, making it a standard fit for most 1-inch boring bar pockets and toolpost holders. The holder uses a clamp-and-screw insert retention method and accepts WN..43. series inserts with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. Constructed from steel, it delivers the rigidity needed for interrupted cuts and heavy stock removal. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this holder in production turning environments where consistent insert indexing and negative-rake geometry are required.
This toolholder is suited for external turning, facing, and profiling applications where a left-hand cutting direction is required. The MWLN style provides a 5-degree lead angle that directs cutting forces toward the workpiece centerline, reducing chatter on long overhangs. It is commonly used in job shops and production facilities running steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. The 1.25 inch back-of-bar to cutting-edge dimension and 1.13 inch head length are consistent with standard MWLN geometry used in both manual and CNC lathe setups.
Designed to accept WN..43. series indexable inserts (complete compatibility: WN.. 432) with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. Fits standard 1-inch square shank toolpost and turret positions on CNC and manual turning centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before seating or removing the toolholder from the turret or toolpost. Verify insert seating and clamp screw torque per the insert manufacturer's specification before taking a cut. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp components for wear or chips each time the insert is indexed.
