The HERTEL 1000175 is a right-hand MTFN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative rake insert geometries. Built from steel, it accepts TN..33. series triangular inserts with a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle. The shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall with an overall length of 6 inches, making it a compact, rigid holder suited for external turning operations on manual and CNC lathes. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this holder for general-purpose turning, facing, and profiling applications where negative rake tooling is specified.
This toolholder is intended for external turning operations on metal-cutting lathes in production and job-shop environments. Its MTFN configuration positions the insert for right-hand cutting direction, with a back-of-bar to cutting edge measurement of 1.25 inches. The 1x1 inch shank fits standard tool turrets and tool posts designed for that bore size. It is well suited to roughing and finishing passes on steel, cast iron, and other machinable metals where negative rake inserts are preferred for edge strength and insert longevity.
Designed to accept TN..33. series negative rake triangular inserts with a 0.375 inch inscribed circle. Fits standard 1 inch x 1 inch shank tool posts and CNC turret pockets. Verify insert pocket geometry and shank bore dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully in the tool post or turret pocket to the depth specified by the machine tool manufacturer before tightening clamping screws. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the lathe is in an e-stop or locked-out condition before inserting, indexing, or removing tooling. Do not overtighten insert clamping hardware beyond the torque specification listed in the insert manufacturer documentation.
