The HERTEL 1000160 is an indexable turning toolholder designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built to the MTENNS163 style, it features a neutral hand orientation and secures the insert with a clamp screw and screw holding method. The shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall, and the overall length is 5 inches. The toolholder is machined from steel and applies a negative rake angle of -10 degrees, making it well suited for use with negative-geometry TN-style inserts. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this holder for general-purpose external turning operations.
This toolholder is applicable to external turning applications on production and job-shop lathes where a neutral-hand, clamp-screw holder is required. The 1 inch square shank fits standard tool blocks and turrets sized for that cross-section. With a head length of 1.16 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 0.5 inches, it positions the cutting edge accurately relative to center height. No coolant-through capability is present, so it is best suited for flood or dry cutting setups. It belongs to the Multi-Option series and is sold individually.
Designed for use with TN.. 322 series indexable inserts. Insert inscribed circle is 3/8 inch (0.375 inch). Refer to the complete insert compatibility designation TN.. 322 when selecting mating inserts. Confirm turret or tool block bore size matches the 1 inch square shank before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe or turning center before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret. Torque the clamp screw and turret retention hardware according to the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Verify insert seating and tool center height with a dial indicator or center gauge before taking a cut.
