The HERTEL 1000126 is a left-hand MRGN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel with a 1 inch by 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches, this toolholder accepts RN..32 series round inserts held in place by a clamp-and-screw clamping method. The negative rake geometry is suited for interrupted cuts, harder workpiece materials, and applications where edge strength takes priority over cutting forces. Part of the Multi-Option series, it is intended for machinists and tool-and-die technicians working in production or job-shop turning environments.
This toolholder is appropriate for external longitudinal turning, facing, and profiling operations where a left-hand tool path is required. The 1 inch by 1 inch shank fits standard lathe tool posts and quick-change tool post holders sized for that shank dimension. With a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 1.25 inches and a head length of 0.88 inches, it positions the RN..32 round insert at a predictable center height for consistent depth-of-cut control. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant must be applied externally.
Designed to accept RN..32 series round indexable inserts with a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle. Fits standard lathe tool posts and quick-change holders with a 1 inch by 1 inch shank bore.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before seating or indexing inserts and before mounting or removing the toolholder from the tool post. Torque the clamp screw to the insert manufacturer's specification using the correct torque key. Verify tool center height against the workpiece spindle centerline before starting a cut, as an incorrect center height will affect surface finish and insert life.
