The HERTEL 1000125 is a right-hand MDQN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative rake cutting operations on the lathe. It carries a -7 degree rake angle and a 17.5 degree lead angle, making it suited for general-purpose external turning where controlled chip direction and edge strength are priorities. The shank measures 3/4 inches wide by 3/4 inches tall with an overall length of 4.5 inches. The toolholder accepts DN..43. series inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and uses a clamp and screw insert-holding method for secure, repeatable positioning. Manufactured from steel, this holder is intended for use by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments.
This toolholder is appropriate for external turning operations on manual and CNC lathes where a right-hand cutting direction is required. The MDQN style is a standard configuration commonly used in both roughing and finishing passes when paired with the correct DN..43. insert geometry and grade. The 1-inch back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension supports standard tool post and turret mounting setups. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant delivery should be used when required by the workpiece material or operation.
Designed to accept DN..43. series indexable inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Complete insert compatibility designation is DN.. 432. Verify insert geometry, grade, and chipbreaker selection against the workpiece material and cutting conditions before use.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with indexable tooling setup procedures. Ensure the lathe is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret or tool post. Set the cutting edge height to spindle centerline using appropriate shim stock before taking a cut. Follow the toolholder and machine manufacturer guidelines for insert torque and clamp screw tightening sequence.
