The HERTEL 1000112 is a right-hand MDJN-style negative rake indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel construction, this toolholder features a 1 x 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches, providing a rigid platform for high-metal-removal roughing and finishing passes. The negative rake geometry reduces insert edge chipping under interrupted cuts and heavy feeds. It accepts DN..43. series inserts secured by a clamp and screw holding method, ensuring repeatable insert positioning and secure clamping throughout the cut. A 3-degree lead angle directs cutting forces back toward the workpiece for improved surface finish and tool life.
This toolholder is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous turning applications in job shops, production machining environments, and tool rooms. The MDJN style is a standard geometry used in both roughing and general-purpose turning on steel, cast iron, and similar materials. A 1.25-inch head length and 1.25-inch back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension position the insert correctly for standard turning setups. Coolant-through capability is not available on this holder, making it appropriate for flood coolant or dry cutting setups. This is a single-purpose, non-multi-use toolholder designed for dedicated turning station use.
Designed to accept DN..43. series indexable inserts (complete compatibility designation DN.. 432) with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Part of the HERTEL Multi-Option series. Also referenced under catalog numbers MDJNR and L164D.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Secure the shank in the tool turret or toolpost to the machine manufacturer's specified clamping torque before operation. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts or adjusting the toolholder. Do not exceed the insert manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the chosen DN..43. insert grade.
