The HERTEL 1000105 is a right-hand MCLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on metalworking lathes and turning centers. It features a negative rake geometry and accepts CN..43. series inserts, secured by a clamp and screw holding method for positive seating under interrupted and continuous cuts. The shank measures 1.25 inches wide by 1.25 inches tall with an overall length of 6.0 inches. The steel construction provides the rigidity required for production turning applications. Installation and setup are handled by machinists and CNC turning specialists.
This toolholder is suited for external turning on both manual engine lathes and CNC turning centers in job shop and production environments. The MCLN toolholder style positions the insert at a 5-degree lead angle, which influences chip direction and surface finish on straight and slight-taper turning passes. The head length of 1.2 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 1.5 inches provide clearance geometry appropriate for standard OD turning. This holder is part of the Multi-Option series and is cataloged under MCLNR L204D.
Designed to accept CN..43. series inserts with a 0.375 inch inscribed circle; complete insert compatibility designation is CN.. 322. Verify turret pocket or toolpost bore size matches the 1.25 inch x 1.25 inch shank before installation.
This toolholder is installed and adjusted by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe or turning center before mounting or changing the toolholder in the turret or toolpost. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the CN-style insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque guidelines for turret clamping fasteners and refer to the insert supplier seating instructions for the clamp screw.
