The HERTEL 1000101 is a right-hand MCLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel, it accepts CN..32. series inserts held in place by a clamp and screw method, providing repeatable insert positioning and secure clamping under negative rake cutting conditions. The shank measures 0.625 inches wide by 0.625 inches tall, with an overall length of 4 inches and a head length of 1 inch. The back-of-bar to cutting edge distance is 0.875 inches. This toolholder is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop turning environments.
The HERTEL 1000101 is suited for external turning applications where negative rake geometry is preferred for interrupted cuts, harder workpiece materials, or heavier feeds. The 5-degree lead angle positions the insert for efficient chip flow and edge engagement. It is a standard-shank toolholder compatible with tool blocks and turrets sized for 5/8-inch square shanks. This part fits the Multi-Option series and is a direct catalog replacement for applications calling for MCLNR or L103A style holders. Coolant-through capability is not included in this holder.
Takes CN..32. indexable inserts (complete insert compatibility: CN.. 322). Cross-references to MCLNR and L103A catalog designations. Designed as an OEM-style replacement for right-hand MCLN-style turning toolholders accepting 5/8-inch square shank mounting.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret or tool block. Ensure the shank seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for tool block fasteners and verify insert seating before resuming cuts.
