The HERTEL 1000078 is a right-hand CTAP-style indexable turning toolholder designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It features a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees, which suits a wide range of insert geometries and workpiece materials. The toolholder accepts TP..32. series inserts and uses a clamp-style insert holding method for secure, repeatable cutting edge positioning. The shank measures 0.75 inches wide by 0.75 inches tall, and the overall length is 4.5 inches. Built from steel for rigidity under interrupted cuts and continuous turning operations, this holder is a standard choice for machinists and toolroom technicians setting up production or job-shop turning applications.
This toolholder fits standard square-shank tool post setups common in both production and job-shop turning environments. It is suited for external turning operations where a right-hand cutting direction is required. The CTAP style with clamp-type insert retention is widely used in applications demanding fast insert indexing without disturbing tool offset settings. The 3-degree lead angle and 3/8-inch insert inscribed circle size make it compatible with light to medium-depth turning passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed to accept TP.. 322 series inserts. Insert inscribed circle is 3/8 inch (0.375 inches). Consult insert manufacturer charts to match grade and geometry to workpiece material and cutting conditions.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the toolholder firmly in the tool post or turret before indexing or replacing inserts. Power down and zero-energy-lock the machine before handling inserts or adjusting clamp screws. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool offsets after insert changes.
