The HERTEL 1000044 is a right-hand STGC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for use on manual and CNC lathes in metal cutting operations. It features a neutral rake geometry with a 0-degree rake angle, making it suitable for straight turning and facing applications where consistent chip control and insert seating are required. The toolholder uses a screw-type insert holding method for secure clamping and quick insert changes. The 3/4-inch square shank fits a wide range of tool post and turret configurations. It accepts TC..32.5. series inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary installers of this type of toolholder.
This toolholder is suited for general-purpose external turning operations in production and job-shop environments. The right-hand orientation means the cutting tool feeds from right to left along the workpiece, the standard direction for most OD turning passes. It works in both light and moderate stock-removal applications where a neutral rake insert geometry is specified. The screw-type clamping series provides positive insert location and is well-suited to interrupted cuts and repetitive production runs where insert indexing speed matters.
Designed for use with TC..32.5. series indexable inserts (complete insert compatibility: TC.. 3252). Fits tool posts and turret stations accepting a 3/4-inch square shank. Refer to insert manufacturer specifications to confirm grade and geometry selection for your material and application.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the toolholder in the tool post or turret station and tighten according to machine tool manufacturer torque guidelines — do not overtighten the insert clamping screw, as this can damage the insert or screw threads. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts or adjusting the toolholder. Confirm center height alignment before taking the first cutting pass.
