The HERTEL 1000041 is a left-hand STGC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on metal lathes and turning centers. Built on a screw-type insert clamping system with a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees, this toolholder accepts TC..32.5. series inserts secured by a single clamping screw. The shank measures 0.75 inches wide by 0.75 inches tall with an overall length of 4.5 inches. The toolholder body is steel construction, providing rigidity under continuous turning loads. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This toolholder is suited for external turning applications on manual lathes and CNC turning centers where a left-hand cutting direction and neutral rake geometry are required. The 3-degree lead angle and 0.75-inch head length make it practical for shoulder turning and general profiling. The back of bar to cutting edge distance measures 1 inch, which simplifies tool offset entry during setup. Coolant-through capability is not available on this holder, so flood or mist coolant must be applied externally.
Designed for use with TC..32.5. series indexable inserts (complete insert compatibility: TC.. 3252). Fits standard lathe tool posts and quick-change turrets accepting a 0.75-inch square shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before seating or changing inserts and before mounting the toolholder in the turret or tool post. Torque the insert clamping screw with the appropriate Torx or hex key supplied or specified by the insert manufacturer. Verify tool centerline height against the spindle centerline before taking the first cut, as incorrect height will affect surface finish and tool life.
