The HERTEL 1000021 is a left-hand SDJC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for use on CNC and manual lathes in metal-cutting operations. It features a neutral rake geometry and a 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch square shank with an overall length of 4.5 inches. The holder accepts DC..32.5. series inserts secured by a screw-type clamping method, providing repeatable insert positioning and rigid support during turning passes. Built from steel construction, this toolholder is suited for external turning operations where a left-hand cutting direction is required. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This toolholder is intended for external turning applications on lathes where a left-hand tool orientation is specified. The neutral rake configuration works across a range of workpiece materials and insert grades. With a 3-degree lead angle and a head length of 0.88 inches, it positions the insert at the correct geometry for finishing and roughing cuts. The back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension is 1.0 inch, supporting accurate tool height setup. Coolant-through capability is not included in this holder design.
Designed to accept DC..32.5. series indexable inserts (complete insert compatibility reference: DC.. 3252). Confirm insert grade and chipbreaker selection based on workpiece material and cutting parameters before use.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the lathe is powered down and the spindle is fully stopped before mounting or adjusting the toolholder. Set tool height to centerline using the 1.0 inch back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension as a reference during setup. Torque the insert clamping screw to the insert manufacturer's specification using the correct Torx or hex key — do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat or screw.
