The HERTEL 1000016 is a right-hand SCLC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for use with CC..21.5 series carbide inserts. It features a neutral rake geometry and a screw-type insert holding method, providing secure, repeatable insert clamping during external turning operations. The 0.5 inch square shank and 3.5 inch overall length make this holder well suited for medium-duty lathe work. Steel construction provides the rigidity needed to maintain dimensional accuracy under continuous cutting loads. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this holder in production and job-shop turning applications.
This toolholder is used in external turning operations on manual and CNC lathes. The neutral rake orientation supports a broad range of workpiece materials and cutting conditions. With a 5-degree lead angle and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 0.625 inches, it is suited for straight turning, facing, and light profiling tasks. The 0.25 inch insert inscribed circle specifies the insert size class, keeping the setup compact for smaller-diameter workpieces.
Designed for use with CC..21.5 series indexable inserts (complete insert compatibility: CC.. 2151). Fits standard 0.5 inch square shank tool blocks and lathe turrets accepting this shank size.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before mounting or changing the toolholder or insert. Torque the insert-retaining screw to the insert manufacturer's specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Verify tool height alignment to spindle centerline before taking a first cut.
