The HERTEL 08512121 is a threaded-shank drill bit designed for precision drilling in low-tensile strength materials. It carries a No. 30 wire gauge size, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.1285 inches, and features a 135-degree split point for self-centering starts and reduced walking on entry. The hex shank accepts a 1/4-28 threaded connection, providing positive retention in compatible chucks and drill holders. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating for moderate heat and wear resistance. Overall length is 1.25 inches with a spiral flute length of 0.5625 inches. Right-hand cutting direction with a regular spiral and tapered web configuration. The split point is web-thinned to reduce thrust during entry.
This bit is suited for use in hand-held power tools, drill presses, and CNC setups where the 1/4-28 threaded hex shank is specified. Typical applications include sheet metal, plastic, and other low-tensile strength substrates encountered in HVAC ductwork fabrication, electrical panel work, and light assembly operations. The short overall length and compact flute make it well-suited for work in tight access areas. It meets NAS 965 Type B specification, making it appropriate for aerospace and precision trade applications requiring controlled tolerances. Single-piece packaging suits jobsite use or individual replacement inventory.
Designed for use with drill chucks and holders that accept a 1/4-28 threaded hex shank. Intended for drilling low-tensile strength materials in general-purpose trade and precision fabrication applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with rotating tool safety. Ensure the drill or driver is fully powered down and any pneumatic or electrical tool is de-energized before changing bits. Confirm the 1/4-28 threaded shank is fully seated and secured in the chuck before operation. Use appropriate cutting speeds for the material being drilled and wear eye protection at all times.
