The HERTEL 06821763 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed for hard ferrous materials and interrupted cuts. The cutter measures 2 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and an overall length of 4.5 inches. Eight flutes generate the characteristic wavy cutting edge geometry that breaks chips into smaller segments, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy roughing passes. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with vertical or horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
This roughing end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous metals, alloy steels, and similar hard materials where chip control and tool longevity are priorities. The 1.25-inch shank diameter is sized for standard milling machine spindles and tool holders that accept that bore. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional CNC and manual milling setups. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coating adhesion or buildup would be a concern, or where the tool will be run with cutting fluid rather than dry.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in milling machines and machining centers with spindle tooling that accepts a 1.25-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the tool holder and torque the retention hardware to the machine or holder specification. Do not use this end mill for plunge cutting, as the non-centercutting geometry is not designed for axial entry.
