The HERTEL 06821672 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for high-volume material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous metals where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 1/2-inch diameter cutting head runs 4 flutes in a right-hand cutting, right-hand flute configuration, with a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 3.25-inch overall length. It is a non-centercutting tool intended for peripheral milling and side-cutting applications. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of tooling on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes on medium to hard workpiece materials including alloy steels and stainless steels. The regular-length configuration makes it appropriate for most standard setups where extended reach is not required. Its 1/2-inch shank diameter fits standard R8, ER, and similar collet systems commonly found in job shop and production environments. The bright finish is preferred when cutting with coolant flood or when working materials that may react with coated substrates.
Designed as a standard replacement or production-grade roughing end mill for 1/2-inch collet toolholders used in vertical knee mills, manual mills, and CNC machining centers requiring a 1/2-inch shank single-end roughing tool.
Installation requires a 1/2-inch collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style toolholder; confirm holder runout before tightening to manufacturer torque specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Because this is a non-centercutting tool, do not attempt ramp-entry or plunge cutting — enter from the workpiece edge or a pre-drilled hole. Inspect the collet and shank for chips or burrs that could cause runout before each setup.
