The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 45242W is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius. The APLUS PVD coating extends tool life and supports dry or minimal-coolant cutting. A variable pitch design reduces harmonic chatter, making this end mill well-suited for aggressive cuts in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool from the HEV-5 series with a Weldon flat shank for positive drive in high-precision toolholders.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed milling applications across job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron. Secondary applications cover stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 3/8 inch shank diameter and Weldon flat configuration make it compatible with high-precision collet chucks and end mill holders where runout control is critical. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the setscrew in the toolholder and torque the setscrew to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut.
