The GWS 121499 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Built from submicron-grade carbide, it features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 0.09 inch corner radius, and four flutes arranged in a variable helix, variable index configuration. This geometry reduces chatter and harmonics during both roughing and finishing passes. The right-hand spiral flutes and centercutting capability allow plunge entry and versatile tool paths. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing will find this tool suited to demanding material removal applications.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in a standard-length configuration. It fits into conventional straight-bore end mill toolholders with a 0.5 inch shank. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance provides consistent, repeatable seating in collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders. It performs in both roughing and finishing operations, making it a practical choice for shops that need one tool to handle multiple stages of a part program.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per material codes P, K, S, H, and M.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge line and torque the clamping mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and compromise surface finish.
