The GUHRING 9055240049200 is a cobalt screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in production and maintenance environments. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this Series 5524 bit features an M35 cobalt steel construction that provides superior heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The 118-degree four-facet split point geometry promotes accurate starting and reduces the need for a center punch. With a bright uncoated finish and web-thinned, tapered web configuration, it is well suited for fast, accurate hole making in aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals install this bit in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools.
This stub-length drill bit is sized at wire gauge size 10, with a decimal diameter of 0.1935 inches, placing it in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch diameter range. The shorter overall length of 2.44 inches provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice for screw machine work, close-tolerance hole drilling, and setups where reduced tool overhang improves accuracy. It is used in both manual and CNC machining applications where drill wander and chatter must be minimized. Primary rated workpiece material is aluminum.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. Shank diameter is 0.1937 inches (4.92 mm), compatible with any chuck rated for that shank size. Primary workpiece material rating is aluminum; the cobalt grade also performs in other non-ferrous and softer ferrous materials. Conforms to DIN 1897 dimensional standards.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and remove the bit from service if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
