The GATOR 2228 is a coarse-grit surface conditioning disc designed for grinding, blending, leveling, and finishing metal surfaces. Sold in a 3-pack, each disc measures 2 inches in diameter and is rated to a maximum of 25,000 RPM. The twist-lock design seats securely onto a compatible back-up pad without tools, reducing changeover time during work. These discs are suited for use with die grinders or electric drills and are built for professional-grade material removal on metal substrates.
The GATOR 2228 is intended for metal surface preparation tasks common in fabrication, welding cleanup, and general metalworking applications. The coarse conditioning surface makes quick work of scale, weld spatter, rust, and surface irregularities. The 2-inch diameter fits standard back-up pads used with compact die grinders and variable-speed electric drills, making this disc a practical option for work in tight or confined areas on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Designed for use with 2-inch back-up pads in standard die grinders or electric drills rated to handle surface conditioning discs at speeds up to 25,000 RPM.
Mounting is performed by aligning the disc with the back-up pad and twisting to lock into place. Confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 25,000 RPM disc rating before operation. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when grinding or blending metal surfaces. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and replace if torn, frayed, or worn through.
