The DSC PC4108 is a hardware zone expander designed for use with DSC Maxsys security panels. It adds 8 hardwired zones to an existing Maxsys system, allowing installers to extend the input capacity of a panel without replacing the main control board. This module connects directly to the panel's keybus, drawing power from the system bus and requiring no separate power supply in most installations. It is a core expansion component for residential and commercial intrusion detection systems where additional hardwired detection points are needed.
The PC4108 is used in hardwired intrusion alarm installations where the base panel zone count has been reached and additional sensors — door contacts, motion detectors, glass break detectors, or similar hardwired devices — must be added. It is suited for both new construction and retrofit projects where a Maxsys panel is already in place. Licensed alarm installers and low-voltage security technicians are the primary trades that specify and install this expander.
Designed as an OEM-style expansion module for DSC Maxsys series security panels. Consult the Maxsys installation documentation to confirm supported panel models and maximum expander count before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or alarm systems technician in accordance with local codes and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Power down the Maxsys panel and disconnect the battery backup before connecting or removing any expansion module. Verify keybus wiring polarity and total keybus current load against the panel's specifications before commissioning. Do not exceed the panel's rated maximum zone or module capacity.
