The CRATEX 612 C is a silicon carbide surface grinding wheel designed for material removal, surface conditioning, and finishing on metal and non-metal workpieces. Bonded with a rubber matrix, this wheel delivers a controlled, resilient cut that reduces chatter and heat buildup compared to vitrified-bond alternatives. At 6 inches in diameter and 3/4 inches thick with a 1/2-inch arbor hole, the coarse-grade wheel runs at a maximum of 3600 RPM. It is used by machinists, metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and skilled tradespeople who need a reliable abrasive wheel for bench or surface grinder applications.
This wheel is suited for a range of surface preparation and finishing tasks including deburring, removing rust, eliminating heat marks and tarnish, smoothing rough surfaces, removing excess solder, and polishing operations. The silicon carbide abrasive cuts aggressively on non-ferrous metals, cast iron, and similar harder materials. Its coarse grade makes it especially effective for rapid stock removal and corrosion cleanup rather than fine finishing. It is commonly mounted on bench grinders or surface grinding machines in job shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments.
Designed for use with bench grinders and surface grinding machines accepting a 6-inch diameter wheel with a 1/2-inch arbor hole. Suitable for corrosion removal, deburring, excess solder removal, heat mark and tarnish removal, polishing operations, rust removal, scratch removal, and general smoothing tasks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or technician following all applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheel mounting. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before installation and perform a ring test to confirm integrity. Never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel or in the product documentation.
