The CRATEX 158 M is a small-diameter surface grinding wheel designed for precision deburring, polishing, and surface finishing on metal and similar workpieces. Built with a silicon carbide abrasive in a rubber bond matrix and rated at a medium grade, this wheel delivers controlled material removal with a degree of flexibility that rigid vitrified wheels cannot match. At 1.5 inches in diameter, 0.5 inches thick, and with a 0.25-inch arbor hole, the 158 M fits standard rotary tool and bench grinder spindle setups commonly used in light metalworking and fabrication environments. Maximum operating speed is 15000 RPM. Rubber-bonded construction allows the wheel to conform slightly to irregular surfaces, making it well suited for finish work rather than aggressive stock removal.
This wheel is intended for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in applications where surface condition matters as much as material removal rate. Typical use cases include removing corrosion, heat marks, tarnish, and excess solder, as well as general smoothing, scratch removal, and preparation for plating or coating. Its compact dimensions make it practical for use in confined areas or on small components where a larger wheel cannot be maneuvered. Machinists, metal fabricators, jewelers, and HVAC and plumbing tradespeople working on brazed or soldered connections will find this wheel appropriate for finishing and cleanup tasks.
Designed for use in corrosion removal, deburring, excess solder cleanup, heat mark removal, polishing, rust removal, scratch removal, smoothing, and tarnish removal operations on appropriate rotary tool or bench grinder setups accepting a 0.25-inch arbor.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive wheel safety practices. Before mounting, verify that the spindle speed does not exceed the 15000 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the tool before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never operate a damaged abrasive wheel.
