The CARRHILL SR11234 is a socket fusion reducer coupling designed for medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) gas distribution piping. It transitions from a 1.5-inch socket to a 0.75-inch socket and is manufactured in yellow, the standard color coding for gas service fittings. This fitting is joined using the socket fusion process, which creates a permanent, pressure-rated thermoplastic bond without mechanical fasteners or adhesives. It is installed by qualified gas piping technicians working on underground or above-ground MDPE gas distribution systems.
This reducer coupling is used in residential and commercial gas distribution applications where a pipe size reduction is required within an MDPE system. Typical install scenarios include service line transitions, meter set assemblies, and branch line reductions in natural gas or propane distribution networks. The yellow color visually identifies the fitting as gas-service rated per standard industry conventions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for MDPE socket fusion gas distribution piping systems.
Socket fusion fittings must be installed by a licensed gas piping technician following applicable codes, including IFGC and local gas utility requirements. Always shut off and verify zero gas pressure in the line before cutting or joining pipe. Use properly sized and calibrated socket fusion tools to achieve the correct melt depth and fusion temperature for the pipe diameter. Do not disturb a freshly fused joint until the manufacturer-recommended cooling time has elapsed.
