The BONEHAM SFT408JW is a slip-fixed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Manufactured from steel and hardened to 60-65 HRC, this bushing delivers consistent bore alignment and long service life under repeated tooling cycles. The inside diameter measures 0.386 inches with a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, providing tight control over tool runout. The body outside diameter is 0.625 inches, the head outside diameter is 0.875 inches, and the length under head is 0.5 inches. It uses an LS-TW-2 compatible lock screw for secure seating in the liner bushing and is renewable, meaning it can be removed and replaced without disturbing the press-fit liner.
Slip-fixed bushings of this type are used in production drilling, reaming, and boring fixtures across metal fabrication, toolroom, and general machining environments. The SF industry code designates a headed, slip-type renewable bushing per ANSI standards, making it a standard interchangeable component in tooling setups that require frequent bushing changes between operations. This part is appropriate for applications where the bushing must lock in position during the cut and be released between cycles.
Designed for use with LS-TW-2 series lock screws and compatible liner bushings in ANSI-standard SF-type slip-fixed bushing applications. No counterbore is required in the jig plate for this headed configuration.
Installation and removal of slip-fixed drill bushings is typically performed by toolroom machinists or fixture maintenance personnel. Ensure the mating liner bushing bore and seating surface are clean and free of chips or burrs before inserting the bushing. Use the appropriate LS-TW-2 lock screw and a calibrated torque tool per your fixture design specifications. Never force the bushing into the liner by striking it directly, as this can damage the precision bore or the hardened surface.
