The BONEHAM SFT248GE is a slip-fixed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Built to industry code SF, this headed bushing features a 13/64 inch inside diameter and a 3/8 inch body outside diameter, with a 1/2 inch length under the head. The body and head are machined from steel and hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, providing wear resistance under repeated tool cycling. Inside diameter tolerance is held to +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, meeting ANSI standards for tooling-grade fit. The lock screw compatibility is LS-TW-2. Machinists, tool and die makers, and precision fabricators install this bushing in drill jigs where the bushing must be locked in place during the drilling operation yet removed for tool changes.
The SFT248GE is suited for use in headed liner configurations on production drill jigs and fixtures in metal fabrication, aerospace component work, and general machining environments. The slip-fixed installation method allows the bushing to be seated and secured with a lock screw while maintaining the ability to be removed when the operation requires a different bushing type. This design is commonly applied in multi-operation jigs where liner bushings are already installed in the plate.
Designed as an ANSI-standard slip-fixed drill bushing compatible with LS-TW-2 lock screws and standard headed liner bushings used in production drill jig plates.
Installation and removal should be performed by a machinist or tool and die maker using the appropriate bushing press or driver to avoid damaging the bore or head seating surface. Always ensure the mating liner bushing ID and the jig plate counterbore are clean and free of chips before seating the SFT248GE. Secure the bushing with an LS-TW-2 compatible lock screw torqued per the jig fixture documentation. Do not hammer the bushing directly without a proper driver — doing so can distort the bore and compromise tool guidance accuracy.
