The BONEHAM SF3228HL is a slip-fixed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. It carries a G letter designation for inside diameter, with a 0.261 inch ID held to a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches. The body outside diameter measures 0.5 inches and the length under head is 0.75 inches. Constructed from steel, this bushing is renewable and features a head configuration with a head outside diameter of 0.797 inches and a head height of 0.25 inches. It is counterbored and compatible with LS-1 lock screws for secure seating in jig plates. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders are the primary installers.
This bushing is used in drill jigs and production fixtures where repeatable hole location is required. The slip-fixed design allows the bushing to be installed and removed from a liner bushing without tools, making it well suited for operations that require tool changes between operations such as drilling followed by reaming. The SF industry code identifies this as a standard headless slip-fixed style per common bushing standards. Typical applications include metal fabrication, precision machining, and assembly fixture work in both job shop and production environments.
Compatible with LS-1 lock screws. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard installation slip-fixed drill bushing for use with matching liner bushings in jig and fixture assemblies conforming to SF industry code specifications.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolmaker. Ensure the liner bushing bore and mating surfaces are clean and free of chips or burrs before inserting the slip-fixed bushing. Use the appropriate LS-1 lock screw to secure the bushing and prevent rotation during drilling or reaming operations. Do not force the bushing into the liner; a smooth slip fit is expected by design.
