The BONEHAM PT288HX is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Manufactured from steel and assigned industry code P, this bushing installs without a head or locking collar, seating flush within a drilled hole for a clean, low-profile fit. The inner bore measures 9/32 inches in diameter with a close tolerance of plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0005 inches, ensuring accurate tool guidance. The body outside diameter is 7/16 inches and the overall bushing length is 1/2 inches. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders use this type of bushing to maintain consistent hole location across repeated drilling, reaming, or boring operations.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs and production fixtures where a permanent, non-renewable guide bushing is required. The headless design makes it appropriate for applications where the bushing must sit flush with or below the surface of the jig plate. The P industry code designation identifies it as a standard press fit type, compatible with common jig plate installations in both job shop and production machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new installation press fit headless drill bushing for use in steel jig plates and machining fixtures requiring a 7/16-inch outer diameter bore and 9/32-inch inner diameter tool guidance.
Press fit bushings are installed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or similar controlled-force pressing equipment — do not drive with a hammer, as uneven force can crack the jig plate or damage the bushing bore. The mating hole in the jig plate must be machined to the correct press fit tolerance to achieve proper retention. Remove all chips and burrs from the mating hole before installation. Once pressed in, this bushing is not intended to be removed or replaced without reworking the plate.
