The BONEHAM PT126BT is a press fit headless drill bushing used to guide drill bits and other cutting tools with precision during machining and fabrication operations. Classified under Industry Code P, this bushing features a 0.0635 inch inside diameter (wire size No. 52), a 3/16 inch outside diameter, and a 3/8 inch overall length. Manufactured from steel and hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, it provides the wear resistance required for repetitive drilling applications in jig and fixture setups. The headless design allows flush or below-surface seating in close-tolerance jig plates. Inside diameter tolerance is held to plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0004 inches for consistent hole location accuracy.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs on the shop floor in tool rooms, production machining cells, and precision fabrication environments. It is a non-renewable (permanent) type, pressed directly into the jig plate bore. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders use this type of bushing where a low-profile, one-piece installation is required and the bushing is not expected to be field-replaced during the life of the jig.
Designed as an ANSI-standard press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jigs and machining fixtures requiring a No. 52 wire-size guide bore with a 3/16 inch body diameter.
Installation is performed by pressing the bushing into a precision-reamed hole in the jig plate using an arbor press; the bore in the plate must be held to the mating tolerance for a proper press fit. Always verify the jig plate material and plate thickness are compatible with the 3/8 inch overall length before pressing in. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, removal typically damages the bushing and may require re-machining the host bore. Follow applicable shop and tooling standards when designing jig plates for press fit bushing retention.
