The BONEHAM PT124BR is a headless press fit drill bushing designed to guide drill bits with precision during machining and fabrication operations. Carrying industry bushing code P, this bushing features a 0.0625 inch inside diameter (ID), a 0.1875 inch outside diameter (OD), and an overall length of 0.25 inches. Constructed from steel, it is pressed directly into a mating hole in a drill jig or fixture without the use of a retaining head. The inside diameter is held to a tight tolerance of positive 0.0001 to positive 0.0004 inches, ensuring consistent hole location and concentricity across repeated drilling cycles. Machinists, toolmakers, and jig builders rely on this style of bushing when a flush or countersunk jig plate surface is required.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs, fixture plates, and production tooling where repeatable hole location is critical. The headless profile is preferred when the top of the jig plate must remain flush or when clearance over the bushing is limited. Typical applications include drilling, reaming, and light boring operations in metalworking, aerospace component production, and general precision machining environments. The non-renewable design means this bushing is intended for permanent or semi-permanent installation in the jig body.
Designed as a standard P-code press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jigs and fixture plates requiring a 0.1875 inch press fit bore and a 0.0625 inch drill guide diameter.
Press fit bushings are typically installed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to achieve the required interference fit in the jig plate bore. The receiving hole in the jig body must be machined to the correct press fit tolerance to ensure proper retention. Do not drive the bushing with a hammer blow directly on the bore face, as this can distort the ID. Follow applicable shop standards and fixture design specifications when determining plate material and bore depth.
