The BONEHAM P888OP is a press fit headless drill bushing engineered to guide drill bits and cutting tools with precision in production and tooling applications. Manufactured from steel with a hardness of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing delivers the wear resistance required for high-cycle drilling operations. It carries an inside diameter of 63/64 inches with a tolerance of +0.0002 to +0.0006 inches, a body outside diameter of 1-3/8 inches, and an overall length of 1/2 inch. The headless design allows the bushing to sit flush within a drill jig plate without a shoulder protruding above the surface. Installation is accomplished by pressing the bushing directly into a prepared jig plate bore. Toolmakers, machinists, and fixture builders are the primary installers of this component.
This bushing is suited for fixed drill jig applications in both production machining environments and tool-and-die shops. Because it is classified as a non-renewable bushing, it is intended to remain permanently in the jig plate once pressed into position. The P industry code designation identifies the bushing geometry within the standard ANSI drill bushing system, making it straightforward to cross-reference against existing jig designs. It is appropriate for applications where consistent hole location accuracy is required across repeated drilling operations on steel, aluminum, and similar materials.
Designed as an ANSI-standard press fit headless drill bushing compatible with drill jig plates bored to accept a 1-3/8 inch outside diameter press fit bushing per standard P-series geometry.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to drive the bushing into a precision-bored jig plate hole. The jig plate bore must be finished to the correct interference fit tolerance before pressing to avoid bushing damage or improper seating. Power down and de-energize any associated machinery before performing jig maintenance or bushing installation. Once pressed in, the bushing is not intended to be removed and reused.
