The BONEHAM P5616MH is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. Built to industry code P, this bushing features a 0.625 inch inside diameter with a close tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, a 0.875 inch body outside diameter, and a 1.0 inch overall length. Constructed from steel, it is pressed directly into a hardened drill jig plate and sits flush with the plate surface due to its headless design. Machinists, tool and die makers, and precision metalworking shops use this bushing to maintain accurate hole location across repeated drilling operations.
The P5616MH suits applications where the bushing must sit flush with the jig plate surface, making it appropriate for situations where a flanged head would interfere with the workpiece or fixturing setup. It is a non-renewable bushing, meaning it is permanently installed by press fit into the jig body rather than being swapped out during production runs. This bushing is suited for general metalworking, automotive, aerospace, and industrial fabrication jig-and-fixture work where consistent hole placement is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit component for drill jig plates and fixtures requiring a press fit headless bushing with a 0.625 inch inside diameter and 0.875 inch outside diameter to industry code P specifications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool and die maker using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing flush into a properly reamed jig plate bore. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be reamed to the correct interference fit diameter to achieve proper retention. Never drive the bushing with a hammer directly on the bore face, as this can distort the inside diameter and compromise drill guidance accuracy. Verify inside diameter tolerance with a plug gauge after installation before putting the fixture into service.
