The BONEHAM P486JJ is a headless press fit drill bushing designed to guide twist drills, reamers, and other cutting tools with precise, repeatable accuracy in jig and fixture applications. Built to P-series industry standards, it features an inside diameter of 23/64 inches with a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, a body outside diameter of 3/4 inches, and an overall length of 3/8 inches. Constructed from steel for wear resistance, this bushing is a non-renewable fixed type suited for high-volume production drilling operations where tooling position must remain consistent across repeated cycles.
The P486JJ is used in drill jig setups across machining, fabrication, and tooling shops. Its headless profile allows flush or recessed mounting where a flanged head would interfere with the workpiece or fixture surface. Typical applications include close-tolerance hole location in metal and composite workpieces. It is installed by press fitting into a precisely bored jig plate hole and requires no liner bushing. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders are the primary installers in both job shop and production manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard P-series headless press fit drill bushing for use in jig plates bored to accept 3/4 inches outside diameter fixed bushings per industry tooling standards.
Press fit installation requires a jig plate bore held to the mating tolerance specified for P-series bushings. Use an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing flush and square - never drive with a hammer directly on the bushing face. Confirm the inside diameter is clean and free of burrs before use. Removal of a press fit bushing typically requires a bushing press or knockout tool and will damage the bushing, as this is a non-renewable type.
