The BONEHAM P486JH is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and other cutting tools with precision during machining and fabrication operations. With an inside diameter of 0.358 inches and a body outside diameter of 0.75 inches, this bushing installs directly into a jig plate without the need for a locking collar or head flange. The overall length is 0.375 inches. Manufactured from steel, the P486JH provides the hardness and wear resistance required for repeated drilling cycles in production and job-shop environments. It carries industry code P and is installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs and fixture plates where a flush, headless profile is required. The press fit installation method means the bushing is driven or pressed into a reamed hole in the jig body and held in place by interference fit alone. It is not renewable and is intended as a permanent installation. Typical applications include precision hole location in metal fabrication, assembly fixtures, and production drilling setups where consistent hole placement across multiple workpieces is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit component for standard P-series press fit headless drill bushing applications in drill jigs and fixture plates conforming to industry code P dimensions.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolmakers using a drill bushing press or arbor press to drive the bushing into a precision-reamed hole sized for the appropriate interference fit. Ensure the jig plate hole is reamed to the correct tolerance before pressing the bushing in place, as the P486JH is a non-renewable bushing and is not designed for removal after installation. Always deburr the receiving hole before installation to avoid damage to the bushing or jig plate. Follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating pressing equipment.
