The BONEHAM P4816KE is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Carrying industry code P, this bushing features a 0.404 inch inside diameter (Letter size Y, Decimal 0.4040 inches) and a 3/4 inch body outside diameter. The inside diameter is held to a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, ensuring accurate and repeatable hole location across production runs. Constructed from steel, it is pressed directly into a drill jig plate without a locking head, keeping the top surface flush for workpiece clearance. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders are the primary installers of this component.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs, production fixtures, and precision machining setups where consistent hole guidance is required. The headless design is preferred when a flush or near-flush bushing surface is needed and no tool-free removal is required. The press fit installation method means the bushing is permanently seated in the jig plate under interference fit conditions. It is not a renewable bushing, making it appropriate for long-run fixtures where the bushing is not expected to be field-swapped during normal production.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation drill bushing for use in standard drill jig fixtures requiring a P-series headless press fit bushing with a 0.404 inch inside diameter and 3/4 inch outside diameter.
Press fit bushings are typically installed by tool and die makers or machinist-level trades using an arbor press to avoid cocking or damage to the bushing bore. The receiving hole in the jig plate must be machined to the correct tolerance to achieve the proper interference fit. Do not drive the bushing in with impact tools, as this can distort the inside diameter and degrade hole location accuracy. Verify inside diameter after installation if tolerances are critical to the application.
