The BONEHAM P4812LR is a headless press fit drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. It features an inside diameter of 17/32 inches and a body outside diameter of 3/4 inches, with an overall bushing length of 3/4 inches. Constructed from steel hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing delivers the wear resistance required for repetitive drilling operations. It is a non-renewable, permanent-style bushing installed directly into the jig plate using an interference press fit. Machinists and toolmakers specify this type of bushing where a fixed, flush-mounted guide is preferred over a liner-and-slip bushing configuration.
This bushing is suited for production drilling, reaming, and boring operations in metal fabrication, machine shops, and industrial tooling environments. The headless design sits flush with the jig plate surface, making it appropriate for close-clearance applications where a flanged head would interfere with workpiece setup or clamping. It conforms to ANSI standards for drill bushing dimensions, making it a drop-in fit for standard jig tooling designed to that specification.
Designed as an ANSI-standard press fit headless drill bushing suitable for jig plates and fixture assemblies requiring a permanent bushing with a 17/32-inch bore and 3/4-inch outside diameter body.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolmakers using an arbor press or hydraulic press to drive the bushing into a precisely reamed jig plate bore. The receiving hole must be machined to the correct interference fit tolerance before pressing — forcing a bushing into an undersized or oversized bore will compromise alignment and retention. Do not hammer the bushing directly without a proper driver to avoid distorting the bore. Always verify bore alignment before committing to a permanent press fit installation.
