The BONEHAM P408KQ is a press fit headless drill bushing manufactured from steel and designed to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. With an inside diameter of 0.4375 inches (7/16 inches) and a body outside diameter of 5/8 inches, this bushing accepts the drill and maintains accurate hole location throughout repeated operations. The overall length is 1/2 inch. Hardness is rated at 60 to 65 HRC, providing the wear resistance required in production drilling environments. The inside diameter tolerance is held to +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches for consistent fit. This is a non-renewable, fixed bushing intended for permanent installation in a drill jig plate.
This bushing suits metalworking, tooling, and machining operations where a low-profile, headless profile is required. The headless design sits flush with or below the jig plate surface, making it appropriate for applications where a headed bushing would interfere with workpiece clamping or fixture clearance. It is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders working in job shop, production, and maintenance repair environments. Industry code P identifies it within the standard press fit bushing series per ANSI specifications.
Designed as an ANSI-standard press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jigs and fixture plates requiring a 5/8 inches body outside diameter press fit bore and a 7/16 inches drill guide bore.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing into a correctly toleranced jig plate bore. The receiving bore in the fixture plate must be machined to the appropriate interference fit tolerance before pressing the bushing in place. Do not drive the bushing with impact tools, as this can damage the bore geometry or crack the surrounding plate material. Once pressed in, this bushing is not designed for removal and reinstallation.
