The BONEHAM P408JY is a headless, press fit drill bushing designed to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. Manufactured from steel with a hardness rating of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing delivers the wear resistance required for repetitive drilling operations. The inside diameter measures 25/64 inches with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, ensuring consistent hole location across production runs. The body outside diameter is 5/8 inches and the overall length is 1/2 inch. It installs without fasteners by pressing directly into a prepared liner or fixture plate. Machinists, tool and die makers, and precision fabrication shops are the primary installers.
This bushing carries the ANSI P industry code, placing it within the standard headless press fit series used in drill jig tooling. It is suited for moderate-production fixtures where a renewable liner bushing is not required. The headless profile keeps the bushing flush with the jig plate surface, making it a fit for close-clearance drilling setups where a flanged head would interfere with workpiece positioning or clamping. Applications span general metalworking, aerospace fabrication, and toolroom setups that demand repeatable hole location.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build component for ANSI P series headless press fit drill jig fixtures requiring a 25/64 inch inside diameter and 5/8 inch outside diameter bushing.
Press fit bushings are installed by qualified machinists or toolmakers using an arbor press or hydraulic press. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be finish-reamed to the specified tolerance before installation to achieve proper interference fit. Do not drive the bushing with a hammer, as this can distort the bore geometry. Ensure all chips and contaminants are cleared from the bore before pressing to avoid galling or misalignment.
