The BONEHAM P406KQ is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. This bushing carries an industry code of P and features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) inside diameter, a 5/8 inch body outside diameter, and a 3/8 inch overall length. Manufactured from steel and hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, it delivers the wear resistance and dimensional stability required for high-cycle drilling operations. The headless design sits flush with the jig plate surface, making it well suited for close-tolerance work where a headed bushing would interfere with workpiece clearance.
This bushing is used in drill jigs, fixture plates, and tooling assemblies found in production machining, fabrication shops, and toolroom environments. Its press fit installation method allows it to be driven directly into a reamed hole in the jig body without additional fasteners. The P series headless configuration is a standard in metalworking tooling and is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders working with steel or cast-iron jig bodies. It is not a renewable bushing and is intended as a permanent installation once pressed into place.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation P-series press fit headless drill bushing for use in standard ANSI-specification jig and fixture tooling applications.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press to drive the bushing into a precision-reamed hole sized to the appropriate press fit tolerance. Ensure the receiving hole is clean, square, and deburred before pressing to avoid bushing distortion. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, removal will typically damage the bushing and may require the jig plate hole to be re-reamed for the next oversize. Always verify inside diameter tolerance stack-up against the drill or reamer being guided before installation.
