The BONEHAM P406JJ is a headless drill bushing designed for press fit installation in jig plates and fixture tooling. With a 23/64-inch inside diameter and 5/8-inch body outside diameter, this Type P bushing guides drill bits and other cutting tools with precision, maintaining consistent hole location across repeated operations. Manufactured from steel hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, the P406JJ resists wear under high-cycle production conditions. The headless profile allows flush seating in the jig plate, making it suitable for applications where a protruding head would interfere with workpiece clearance or fixture design. Machinists and toolmakers install this bushing in fabrication shops, machine shops, and production tooling environments.
The P406JJ is used in drill jigs and fixture plates where accurate, repeatable hole guidance is required. The 3/8-inch overall length suits thin jig plates and compact fixture assemblies. Its press fit installation method provides a permanent, non-renewable mount, meaning the bushing is intended to remain fixed in the plate for the life of the tool. This makes it appropriate for high-volume production setups where bushing removal is not anticipated. The ANSI-standard dimensions ensure dimensional interchangeability with other Type P headless press fit bushings from compatible sources.
Designed as an ANSI-standard Type P headless press fit drill bushing suitable for use in drill jigs and fixture tooling requiring a 5/8-inch body outside diameter press fit seat.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing flush in the prepared jig plate bore. The receiving bore must be machined to the appropriate tolerance to achieve proper press fit interference. Power down all associated machinery before performing bushing installation or fixture maintenance. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, removal typically requires pressing out and replacing both the bushing and the jig plate bore if replacement becomes necessary.
