The BONEHAM P3222HS is a press fit headless drill bushing used to guide drill bits and cutting tools with precision in metalworking and machining applications. Manufactured from steel with a hardness of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing delivers the wear resistance required for repeated drilling cycles. The inside diameter measures 0.272 inches with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, ensuring consistent hole location and accurate tool guidance. The body outside diameter is 0.5 inches and the overall length is 1.375 inches. The headless design allows the bushing to sit flush within the jig plate, making it well suited for close-clearance setups. This part is installed and replaced by machinists and tool and die technicians.
This drill bushing is used in drill jigs and fixture plates where precise, repeatable hole location is required. The press fit installation method locks the bushing permanently into the jig body without the need for locking screws or retaining hardware, making it appropriate for high-volume production drilling operations. The counterbored construction accommodates specific tooling setups where clearance at the base of the bushing is needed. This bushing meets ANSI standards and is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in both job shop and production floor environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation press fit headless drill bushing conforming to ANSI standards and identified by Industry Code P, suitable for standard drill jig applications requiring a 0.272 inch ID and 0.5 inch OD bushing.
Press fit bushings require an arbor press or similar controlled-force tool for proper installation into the jig plate bore. The receiving bore must be sized and finished to the correct interference fit tolerance before pressing to avoid bushing distortion or cracking. This is a permanent, non-renewable bushing and is not designed for field removal and reuse once pressed into place. Always follow applicable shop safety practices and consult ANSI jig bushing standards when designing or modifying fixture plates.
