The BONEHAM P268HB is a press fit headless drill bushing used to guide cutting tools during drilling, reaming, and boring operations. It installs directly into a jig plate without a head or locking ring, creating a flush, clean seating surface. The bushing features a 0.242 inch inside diameter with a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, a 13/32 inch body outside diameter, and a 1/2 inch overall length. Constructed from steel hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, it provides long service life under repeated use in production and toolroom environments. Machinists, tool and die makers, and jig builders are the typical installers.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs and fixture plates where precise tool guidance is required. Its headless design makes it the correct choice when a flush surface is needed or when the jig plate thickness is sufficient to retain the bushing through an interference press fit alone. The industry code P designation identifies the outside diameter series, allowing straightforward cross-referencing with standard ANSI jig bushing catalogs. Applications include production drilling on metal components in manufacturing and fabrication environments where hole location accuracy and repeatability are critical.
Designed as an ANSI-standard press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jigs and fixture plates requiring a 13/32 inch reamed hole and a 0.242 inch bore to accept wire gauge size C or equivalent letter drill tooling.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool and die makers using an arbor press to seat the bushing flush into a precision-reamed hole in the jig plate. Power down all machinery before handling or pressing the bushing into place. Do not drive the bushing with a hammer directly on the bore face, as this can distort the inside diameter. Once pressed in, this bushing is not intended to be removed and reused.
