The BONEHAM P168DV is a Type P press fit headless drill bushing manufactured from hardened steel and designed to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. With an inside diameter of 0.125 inches and a body outside diameter of 0.25 inches, this bushing maintains tight bore tolerances of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, keeping cutting tools on location through repeated drilling cycles. The overall bushing length is 0.5 inches. Installation is permanent — the bushing is pressed into a prepared hole in the jig plate and is not intended for removal or replacement in service. Licensed tool-and-die makers, machinists, and fixture builders are the primary installers.
The P168DV is suited for production and prototype drilling jigs, fixture plates, and tooling blocks where consistent hole location is critical. Its headless profile sits flush with the jig plate surface, making it appropriate for close-clearance layouts where a flanged head would interfere with adjacent features or workpiece clamping. The Type P designation follows ANSI standards for press fit drill bushings, so dimensional interchangeability with other ANSI-conforming jig components is maintained.
Designed as an ANSI-conforming Type P press fit headless drill bushing for use in standard jig plates, fixture blocks, and tooling boards requiring a 0.25-inch body outside diameter press fit seat.
Installation requires a precisely reamed or bored hole in the jig plate sized to accept a press fit — an arbor press is the standard tool for seating this bushing without distorting the bore. The jig plate should be secured and supported during pressing to prevent deflection. This bushing is not renewable; removal typically damages either the bushing or the host plate. Always verify jig plate material and thickness are appropriate for the press fit retention force before installation.
